Welcome to The Great Bake Off of 2013! Because you can never have enough cookies during the holidays.I’m always looking for a excuse to have extra family time during the holiday season. This year I snuck one in on my family and suggested The Great Bake Off of 2013.
One Saturday in December right before Christmas, my Grandma, Aunt, Cousin, Mom and I gathered for a full day of baking. We planned our extravaganza for two months, emails and ideas flying, we decided we would make 9 kinds of cookies – Peanut Butter, Toffee Chocolate Chip Bars, Gram Oh’s Almond Roca, No-bake Oreo bites, Sea Salt Caramel Stuffed Snickerdoodles, Classic Snickerdoodles, Chai Latte Bars with Maple Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting (after stumbling on Food Network’s one million cookie recipe magazine – OK, it’s possible I may be exaggerating a bit but it was quite the find), Big John’s Chocolate Chip Cookies, and that good ol’ classic – sugar cookies (first steps provided by Williams-Sonoma and a research mission for a freelance project).
Turns out not all of us are bakers or even comfortable with baking, some of us don’t even own baking or cookie sheets. But, as shown above, all of us could channel our inner crafty kid and decorate a handful of sugar cookies.
I highly recommend a family Bake Off during the holiday season – don’t forget the sugar cookies!0
